Qist al Bahri (marine costus) is increasingly being acknowledged today for its natural benefits. For example, Qist contains helicene and benzoic acid, both of which are substances that kill germs, hence the benefit in the treatment of infections and inflammations. Costus root is used for treating worm (nematode) infections. Costus oil is used for asthma, cough, gas, and severe intestinal diseases such as dysentery and cholera. It is also used as a tonic and to stimulate digestion. In foods and beverages, costus oil is used as a flavouring component.

Direction of Use

Apply to the area once per day, for 20-30 minutes, and then wash off. For tonsillitis, runny nose, colds, and flu. Costus should be ground to a powder and gently snuffed in the nose. You should be lying down with your head and shoulders slightly raised and your head tilted back.
